Our Adventure With Sydney the Cougar

Several
years ago in Delaware, PB met a guy who also had Burmese pythons (like
"Girlfriend"). He lived in New Castle and owned 2 big pythons as well as a wide
variety of other exotic animals. PB used to buy rabbits to feed Girlfriend from
him. One day he bought a cougar and invited PB to come see it. Having been
fascinated by big cats all his life, PB readily agreed and brought the 3 kids
and Vern, who was living with us at the time.
We came in his house, sat on his sofa and waited. We were lined up pretty much by age, with Heather at one end of the couch and PB at the other with Vern between PB & Jesi.
When Sydney came out of the back room (on a leash) she was pulling her owner along to come see us. As she got closer, Vern got nervous and stood up and moved to the other end of the sofa (putting the 3 kids between her and Sydney!).
PB was thrilled when Sydney walked up to him, put her front paws on his knees and starting rubbing her head on his chest. As he scratched her ears her purring made our chests vibrate!
Today Sydney lives in the Brandywine Zoo in Wilmington. If you visit her, please tell her we say hi!
